Bust of a Warrior

Bust Of A Warrior

Roman, 2nd to 3rd Century A.D.

Bronze, Height: 6 1/4″

Inventory# 00513

This bust of a helmeted youth was an attachment to a piece of furniture or a chariot. The type is well known from examples that decorated couches and preserved with chariots. The youthful heroic features of the head and the loose full locks of hair remind one of portraits of Alexander, or it may just be a youthful warrior. It is well preserved with a very nice dark green patina, a fine example of its type.
